Welcome

The Regional Stroke Unit (RSU) at West Wing Hospital, part of Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board, is an integrated rehabilitation service provided by a team of multi-skilled health care and allied professionals that offer you effective, modern and co-ordinated care. It is a unit dedicated solely for the rehabilitation of adults recovering from a stroke.

Located on the 3rd floor of West Wing, opposite to Cardiff Royal Infirmary (CRI), the RSU is a 24-bedded dedicated unit for the rehabilitation of patients recovering from a stroke. Since its inception in 1982, RSU continues to improve as an evolving service using well-established standards that are user-centred,  incorporating the views of the multidisciplinary team.

The RSU is a Charter Mark holder having had three consecutive successful assessments since 2000 in recognition for the quality services provided for its users. The Charter Mark is an initiative of the Office for Public Services Reform in the UK Cabinet Office that aims to promote public sector organisations to strive for the best service.

Continuing on from this achievement, the primary aim of RSU website is to reach out to people in the South Wales area and beyond to raise stroke awareness, and to provide information to stroke survivors and their families/carers.
