About Your Care at RSU

 

  • We aim to provide the best possible care to aid your recovery after stroke during your hospital stay and following hospital discharge.
  • The multidisciplinary team at RSU works with each other to promote your independence after stroke and give an excellent service of care and support to both you and your family/carer to cope with the physical, psychological and social consequences of a stroke.
  • Remember that you are not on your own during this time.The staff at RSU are here to help you and your family, and can offer advice and support at any time.

 

At RSU, stroke rehabilitation interventions are specific, targeted and task-oriented, in accordance with your own goals, taking into account appropriate social dimensions for your learning and practice.

 

The team at RSU will focus on six key areas of your rehabilitation:

1. Preventing and managing co-morbid illness and medical complications

2. Training you to achieve maximum functional independence

3. Facilitating you and your family/carers to cope and adapt after stroke

4. Promoting community reintegration, including resumption of home, family, recreational and vocational activities

5. Enhancing quality of life in view of any ensuing residual disability

6. Preventing recurrent stroke and other vascular conditions such as heart attacks that occur with increased frequency in people who have had a stroke
